GRATEFUL DEAD - "SUNSHINE DAYDREAM"
Tons of vintage LIVE Dead footage
Never officially released - . Part concert film, part Prankster media experiment,
Grateful Dead play in Veneta, Oregon on August 27, 1972 on the heels of
their famed European tour. Record heat, a shortage of water and an
excess of acid give a slightly paranoid vibe to the affair.
"The plot was to develop a signature visual style of representing the
band: a camera for each of the 16 channels (at least!) emphasizing the
visual kinetics of the music making itself as well as the enormous open
communication within the band. The first agreed upon project was to put
together a thirty-minute replacement for the KQED tape the band had
been using for promotion on tour. (90 MINS.)
GHETTO FREAKS (1970)
Includes cheeseball hippie rock band club scenes! After
being arrested at a peace demonstration, a bunch of hippies go home to
their communal apartment to plot their next course of action. At a club
that night, they watch as a mother comes to fetch her daughter. One of
the hippies passes the girl a note listing the group's address. Later,
one of the hippies has a bad LSD experience and hallucinates that she's
giving birth to an enormous egg. The young girl arrives at the group's
apartment and tries LSD herself.
CAPTAIN MILKSHAKE (1970) One of
the more bizarre curio's from the 60's indie underground film movement
is about to re-emerge on the scene. After nearly 3 decades of legal
wrangling, Director Crawford unveiled his pic at the American
Cinemateque in Hollywood as part of the Cinemateque's MODS AND ROCKERS
film series. The film is more interesting as sociology than as a
successful film, however. Real hippies, real drugs, real sex and real
psychedelic rock 'n roll mark the pic as an archeological find of the
era in which it was made.
FUZZ - THE SOUND THAT REVOLUTIONIZED THE WORLD (2007) Fuzz...
the sound that changed the world. The fuzz box: that tiny little box
between the electric guitar and the amp...what on earth does it do?
Clif Taylor explores this insane industry of noise making, from the
geeky backyard 'boutique' engineers built.
A SMELL OF HONEY, A SWALLOW OF BRINE(1966) Contains a raunchy garage band club scene Barbara
Jean Moore (Stacey Walker) was a dropout from Texas who, while vacating
in Santa Monica, was discovered on a beach one afternoon by
cigar-chomping sexploitation producer, Dave Friedman who decided to
cast her in the title role for his latest picture THE NOTORIOUS
DAUGHTER OF FANNY HILL (1965). Pleased by her acting skills (and looks
I suppose), he casted her in this as well as a nudist camp short. A
Paramount executive saw some of the films and was eager to run an
interview with Walker but while Friedman went looking for her she had
already gone back to Texas. So for all we know Miss Walker could have
become a big Hollywood name!
ANOTHER STATE OF MIND (1984) In October of
1982, Youth Brigade lead singer Sean Stern had the idea to "tour" the
U.S. along with a "pretty good" band named Social Distortion. The tour
was a failure, but the footage of their adventures till this day is
hilarious!

ACID EATERS (1967)
Buxom skin-goddess Pat Barrington (Mantis in Lace) is just one of The
Acid Eaters, a bunch of 9-to-5 working stiffs who become drug-crazed
bikers on the weekend! After Miss Barrington kills a galpal in a
catfight and the deceased inexplicably returns as a girlfriend for
wacky artist Artie, the group enters a pyramid made of giant LSD sugar
cubes (!) which is also the entrance to Hell (!!) where Artie suddenly
turns into The Devil (!!!) and everything explodes into one big Acid
Trip... Whoa! Easily the Sixties' most insane mix of sexploitation and
psychedelia, David F. Friedman's The Acid Eaters is soooooo outthere
that even the strongest of minds may become unhinged.(62 mins.)
