Ron's Music Video Tradelist #5

Search entire site here!

"Seaside Swingers" - (U.K. title "Every Day’s A Holiday")1965 Musical romp stars Freddie & the Dreamers, Mojos (Merseybeat band), the Baker Twins, with John Leyton (‘60s "Jericho" TV star, who had chart success with the legendary producer Joe Meek), Ron Moody, Michael Sarne, Michael Ripper; Cinematography by Nicolas Roeg. Ex; Rare!

CARNIVAL ROCK - 1957 - A sleazy night-club changes ownership though a high stakes, card game. Rockabilly performances by Bob Luman and David Houston make this film a "must have." A teenage James Burton (Guitarist for Ricky Nelson and later, Elvis) wails on guitar! Terrific catfight scenes! Outstanding 1950s rock and roll and rockabilly by Bob Luman and his Shadows, David Houston, the Platters. Susan Cabot, and the Blockbusters. Susan Cabot, Brian G. Hutton, David J. Stewart, Dick Miller, Jonathan Haze, Bruno Ve Sota, Ed Nelson. Produced and directed by Roger Corman. Cinematography by Floyd Crosby (David’s dad).

"Country Music Holiday" - 1958 - FERLIN HUSKY, JUNE CARTER, FARON YOUNG, ZSA ZSA GABOR, AL FISHER, LOU MARKS, JESSE WHITE, ROD BRASFIELD, ROCKY GRAZIANO, PATTY DUKE. HUSKY PLAYS A RISING HILLBILLY STAR. ALONG FOR THE RIDE IS HIS SWEETHEART (JUNE CARTER). THIS FILM RARITY IS A STANDOUT FOR THE SCREEN APPEARANCE OF THE LEGENDARY JORDANAIRES and LONZO & OSCAR . HUSKY AND YOUNG AT THE HEIGHT OF THEIR CAREERS AS WELL!! A BIZARRE 50s ROMP WITH A WILD CAST WITH THE LIKES OF GABOR, WHITE, BRASFIELD, GRAZIANO AND EVEN A PRE-TEENAGE PATTY DUKE.-TITLE SONG WRITTEN BY BURT BACHARACH & HAL DAVID.

"HAUNTED HOUSE OF HORROR" (aka THE DARK) 1969 U.K. film. Frankie Avalon looking like he just stepped out of a Beach Party movie and into Swinging London finds himself in a haunted house with a mysterious murderer and bloody gore! Mod-looking twenty-somethings leave a Carnaby St. party and hold a séance in an old house where a fatal knifing befalls one of the swingers. Look for a scene of the legendary Apple Records headquarters mural and background rock music by The Pretty Things. Stars 60s pop singer Mark Wynter, Frankie Avalon, Jill Haworth.

Idol on Parade" - 1959 British comedy stars Anthony Newley as a pop star (dubbed the "King of Rock-A-Boogie") called up to serve in the British army. With William Bendix, Anne Aubrey, Lionel Jeffries. Musical numbers. "Juke Box Rhythm" - 1959 - A rare rock n roll film. A European princess and her aunt come to New York to buy clothes for the royal coronation. She gets involved with a Broadway revue. Jack Jones, Jo Morrow, Brian Donlevy, the Treniers ("Get Out of the Car"), Johhy Otis ("WIllie and the Hand Jive"), Earl Grant Trio and the Nitwits, George Jessel, Hans Conreid, Marjorie Reynolds.

IVY LEAGUE KILLERS (a.k.a. THE FAST ONES) 1958 Igors Gavon performs his rockabilly hits "Get Hep" and "Easy Rider" (which sounds just like See See Rider!) In this Canadian rarity the typical JD plot gets turned around; here a group of beat generation bikers are framed by a nasty group of spoiled rich kids. This film provides a glimpse into Toronto's youth culture of the 1950s. A considerable part of the action takes place at Palace Pier, a once-popular teen dance hall that graced Toronto's waterfront until it burned down in 1963. Don Francks (of the ‘60s U.S. war series "Jericho’), Don Borisenko, Barbara Bricker, Susan Grey. Hard to find juvenile delinquent gem!

"Take A Giant Step" - 1959 teen drama stars R&B/reggae singer Johnny Nash (known for the hit "I Can See Clearly Now") and Ruby Dee. An African-American youth’s coming of age. Deals with sexuality, racial issues. Tagline: "Here is the real rage behind today's tormented "Blue Jeans" Generation! Here's what makes them tick..What makes them tough..What makes them tremble..What makes them take a giant step!"

"Teenage Millionaire" - 1961 - Jimmy Clanton, Dion, Chubby Checker, Bill Black’s Combo, Jackie Wilson, Rocky Graziano, Zasu Pitts, Diane Jergens, Marv Johnson, Vicki Spencer, Jack Larson; rare rock movie.

"Summer Holiday" - Cliff Richard musical rock romp; Peter Yates’ first feature as director.

"Rock, Pretty Baby" - 1956 - A teenager wants to pursue a musical career despite the objections of his father. He organizes a rock n roll combo and tries his best to obtain bookings. Cool scene of a televised "bandstand" show, hosted by LA deejay, Johnny Grant. Lots of songs. Jimmy Daley and the Dingalings, Henry Mancini. Sal Mineo, John Saxon, Rod McKuen, Shelley Fabares, Luana Patten, Edward Platt, Fay Wray, Alan Reed, Jr

"ROCK ALL NIGHT" - 1957 - Two killers with a grudge against the world hold patrons of a rock and roll bar hostage Performances by The Platters, The Blockbusters (rockabilly). stars Abby Dalton, Dick Miller, Bruno Ve Sota, Russell Johnson, Jonathan Haze, Jeanne Cooper, Ed Nelson, Robin Morse, Richard H. Cutting, Mel Welles, Barboura Morris. Produced and directed by Roger Corman; cinematography by Floyd Crosby (David’s father). Screenplay by Charles P. Griffith ("Little Shop of Horrors"); VG
