SHOW WITH THE VERY LONG TITLE (1966)
Probably the best version I've seen, still washed out.
Interesting film with the Shaggs running around singing in true "A Hard Day's Night" fashion in New Haven, CT.
Bram Brig Set - "I Can Only Give You Everything" (18 mins.)
This disc also contains a bunch of so so quality sixties clips.
(The local TV clip of the Castaways is the best version I've seen.)

JEUNESSE OBLIGE DISCOTHEQUE (Three 30 min. Episodes)

High quality shows from Quebec!

JEUNESSE OBLIGE DISCOTHEQUE 1966

CAN. TV show. Live performances. French language. Opens with wild hair-flailing teenage girls in groovy go-go clothes wearing outrageous eye makeup. Jenny Rock sings: "Walkin' The Dog," "Boom Boom Boom," "Loup De Loup," and a song that sounds like, "Hang On Sloopy." Les Aristocrates play an incredible extended set that includes a total rave-up of the Hollies, "Come On Back," the "Batman Theme," an organ punker that sounds like the Troggs, a fuzz guitar pounder similar to the Kinks, a blues rocker and others. Danny Aumont (wearing a Bobby Rydell pompadour) sings a swinging pop tune and Ray Charles-type number.
JEUNESSE OBLIGE DISCOTHEQUE 1966

The artists performing are: Les Sharades, Michèle Richard, Les Chats Hutteurs, Les Titans, and Les 5 Notes. Les Sharades (in the style of Herb Alpert): "A Taste of Honey." Girl Group Les Étincelles: sing a song that sounds like, "The Twist." Michèle Richard: sings a Lesley Gore type ballad and a pop tune. Les Chats Hutteurs: Crank out a garage rocker (with great guitar tone) that sounds like the Remains. Les Titans: sing a vocal harmony, pop song. Lots of dancing and audience chicks with hair hanging in their face.
JEUNESSE OBLIGE 1964
CAN. TV show. Live performances. French language. Hosted by Pierre Lalonde. Guest artists: Petula Clark and Michèle Richard. BRIAN EPSTEIN STORY PART ONE 1998
U.K. Documentary. "The Sun Will Shine Tomorrow." Documentary on the man who managed the Beatles and many other Mersey Beat artists. Brian went from having aspirations of becoming a dress designer to managing NEMS record department to dominating the music scene in 1963 Britain. Awesome not-seen '63 backstage interview footage of Gerry and the Pacemakers, Billy J. Kramer, Cilla Black, Tommy Quickly, Sounds Incorporated, etc. Johnny Gustafson of The Big Three explains why Brian fired them. Paul McCartney candidly discusses John and Brian's "vacation to Spain." Interviews include: Paul McCartney, Gerry Marsden, Johnny Gustafson, Billy J. Kramer, Maureen Cleave, Robert Stigwood, George Martin, Marianne Faithful, Alistair Taylor, Peter Brown, Sid Bernstein, and others. The Brian Epstein Story!
BRIAN EPSTEIN STORY PART TWO 1998
U.K. Documentary. "Tomorrow Never Knows." Rare footage in Abbey Road studios of Mersey Beat artists in action. Gerry Marsden was upset that Brian spent so much time with the Beatles. Paul McCartney goes into fascinating detail about Bob Dylan turning the Beatles and Brian onto marijuana for the first time. Incredible WOR-FM radio interview by Murray the "K" with a very stoned Brian. Interviews include: Paul McCartney, Gerry Marsden, Johnny Gustafson, Billy J. Kramer, Maureen Cleave, Robert Stigwood, George Martin, Marianne Faithful, Joe Flannery, Alistair Taylor, Peter Brown, Sid Bernstein, Nat Weiss and others.

PRIMITIVE LONDON (1965)(Ex. color)

U.K. Film. A "Mondo" film that captures the seedy side of London in the mid-60s. But there's much more…particularly for aficionados of 1960s rock and roll and youth culture. Yeah! We're told about the three types of teenagers: Mods, Rockers and Beatniks. We see a mod in a male boutique and learn about motor scooters and the peacock trend in male dress. It's all very cool! Rockers wearing metal-studded leather jackets and jackboots explain their feelings towards mods, motorcycles and government. At the Ace Café, while the Beatles, "Can't Buy Me Love" is playing, rockers get into a huge brawl; then "make out" with their girlfriends!
Teenage girls soak in a bathtub wearing blue jeans so they'll shrink to a skintight fit. A fab record store segment shows screaming teenage fans mauling Billy J. Kramer as he walks into a record store for a guest appearance while former 1950s teenage star, Terry Dene goes unnoticed amid the chaos.
Merseybeat/R&B group The Zephyrs (who also appeared in the film, Be My Guest) are shown rocking in a club while mods are dancing wildly. Teenagers are interviewed about beatniks, lifestyle choices, music, drugs, sex, marriage, etc. A bluesy guitar and harp player wail out in a crowded pub.
Also: A hair salon showcasing the latest hairstyles. Cynical advertising men conjure up a new sales pitch for coffee. A fashion show featuring topless dresses. Women practicing judo and getting tattoos. Male bodybuilding and wrestling. Fat, hairy men in Turkish baths. A Jack the Ripper reenactment. Prostitutes in dark alleys. Wife swapping parties. Excellent footage of London streets during the day and night.
